Humor, can it be part of serious art?

Looking at Art:

I think it is safe to say that all artists want to be taken seriously, but some of the most pleasurable moments in life make us laugh. Must all art have an intensity to it which arouses powerful emotions and deep thoughts? What do you think?

Work in the Studio:

I have been described as very intense and my art work seems to require a good deal intense concentration, energy and perseverance. However, sometimes, playful art is not only a pleasure to see, but also a pleasure to make. Since a major focus of my studio work involves the study of expressive faces, I have challenged myself to convey a wide range of emotions in the work. The two wall sculptures presented here, are part of a series of sculpted faces.
