Will A.I. replace artists?
Looking at Art:
There has been a lot of news about Artificial Intelligence becoming readily available to everyone. College professors are concerned about cheating; commercial artists are concerned they may no longer be needed and A.I. was one of the motivating factors for writers when they went on strike. A recent editorial in the Sarasota Herald Tribune by Jim Russell, suggests that A.I. will actually make the work of individual artists more desirable. He believes that “art becomes a celebration of our unlimited potential” and “human-made” art will not be devalued by the introduction of this new technology. Do you agree?
Work in the Studio:
In my studio the questions I consider are much less complex. Does my new sculpture express something unique? In working with color and texture, can I enhance the form? The sculpture shown here is my first with a green surface treatment. As I took my walks in the morning, I looked at all the variations of green in the landscape, marveling at the beauty of nature while I considered how to create the patina.
