Is art-making a rebirth?

Looking at Art:

When Jon Batiste received 11 Grammy nominations, he said: “You go through this process of resurrection as an artist, you go through a birth and a rebirth and a rebirth and you’re constantly becoming.” When speaking about his latest album, he said he expects that in his new music, he will go through similar rebirths, but none of them will be exactly the same. Whether in music or visual art-making the creative process is similar. Have you had an experience like the one Batiste is describing?

 Work in the Studio:

Experimenting is part of my process in the studio. I am always trying to reinvent myself as an artist and this challenge is one reason that I maintain an interest in making art. To this day, I have yet to make a satisfying self-portrait. The painting shown here is an attempt to create a different type of image involving my face. I was playing with unrealistic colors and perspective. A painting like this one can sometimes point to new opportunities to experiment.
