Looking at Art:

Claude Monet was inspired by his garden, Paul Cezanne was famous for painting the mountains near where he lived, Freida Kahlo made many self portraits exploring the challenges and pain she experienced in her life. Is all of an artist’s work related to personal experience? What do you think?

Work in the Studio:

When I was trying to teach myself to control the washes in watercolor, I made a series of monochromatic drawings inspired by my family. The collection that was the result of this study did help me to perfect my technical skills as a painter. At the same time, the images of family, which illustrate some of our most important memories and events, have become a valued collection that is hung on the walls of our home today. The watercolor that is shown here is part of that collection.
