Can a computer draw for you?

Looking at Art:

When the remote was invented, it was no longer necessary to get up off the couch to change a channel on the TV. Is it possible that this device contributed to the existence of couch potatoes? Now, according to an article in the New York Times, you can describe in words what you want and the computer can produce a rendering for you. It is possible that this invention will be a boon for commercial art, but how will it affect our motivation to be creative and draw for ourselves? When children grow up in a world where everything is done for them, how will this change their childhood? What do you think?

Work in the Studio:

The painting shown here is an addition to series of watercolors I have been producing about musicians. My goal was to engage the viewer in the music by the gesture of the conductor and the violinists in the background. One challenge was allowing the conductor to dominate the scene while including other figures. I wanted the entire orchestra to be implied using just a few performers.
